Research:

Together with Daniel Ruzzante (Dalhousie) and Victor Cussac (Argentina), we have been studying the evolutionary dynamics and ecology of an endemic "perch" species complex (Percichthys spp.) in the mountain and steppe lakes of Patagonia. We have found that some high altitude lakes contain two morphologically different types within a single species, types that differ in diet and distribution within lakes. Diets consist primarily of benthic invertebrates, and in future work we will be examining the association between resource availability and patterns of morphological divergence.
